We have it on authority that Mzuzu based social media influencer, Julius Mithi has been taken to Lilongwe.
Mithi was arrested today afternoon in Mzuzu after what Malawi Police Service (MPS) authorities said “followed complaints from the National Registration Bureau (NRB) but also Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).”
A source privy to the matter says Mithi is on his way to Lilongwe.
“He was actually arrested by authorities from Headquarters [Area 30]. They are the ones who have picked him,” says the source.
Earlier, national police spokesperson Peter Kalaya said Mithi, to be taken to court within 48 hours, will likely answer offensive communication charges under the Electronic Transactions and Cyber Security Act.
