Madras Security Printers has committed to providing seamless services and permanent solutions towards passport challenges.
This firm is the contractor which the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services awarded a five-year contract for the designing, installation, and commissioning of the electronic passport issuance system and the supply of passport booklets and consumables.
The company’s Assistant General Manager, Balachander Ramamurthy, made the assurance in Lilongwe during the e-Passport Project Technical Committee meeting.
Ramamurthy highlighted the deep understanding of the existing challenges of the proposed permanent solution after the successful completion of the system requirements gathering exercise.
He expressed commitment to supply a modern system tailored to provide solutions to the unique needs and aspirations of the Department of Immigration and members of the Public.
“We have appreciated the existing system in all the centres and have gathered the relevant information about the system you aspire to address the challenges you have been facing. We have made various recommendations and through our proposed Software Requirements Specifications (SRS), we remain steadfast to meet your specific needs and enhance service delivery,” he said.
Commissioner for Operations at Immigration, Fletcher Nyirenda, indicated that the department has been facing significant challenges in delivering timely and effective passport services to the citizens, hence seeking the services of the supplier to enhance the system.
The government awarded a five-year contract worth about $29.9 million (about K52 Billion) to a new passport supplier, Madras Security Printers Private Limited, and is expected to roll out a new passport issuance system at the end of April.
