A Concerned citizen of Malawi who is also a politician of one of the opposition parties, has claimed that the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has manufactured poverty making Malawians to be turned beggars for money to buy food.
The woman said it is sad to see women, men, boys and girls braving coldness at 04; 00 in the morning at a stage waiting for hired vehicles to take them to State House to dine with President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and receive the K50,000s transport refunds.
She said the Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) denounced handouts as a weapon of enticing the voters but the same Mec which is being chained by the MCP, is the one watching President Chakwera to break the law on handouts.
The woman has questioned Mec that if it was the DPP dishing out the K50,000s, all of its candidates would have been disqualified by law but because President Chakwera and the MCP are doing this, there is no law barring them from giving out handouts to voters.
Speaking through a video clip flanked by supporters of her party, the woman has courageously challenged President Chakwera that Malawians were not born poor to be invited to State House scrambling for K50,000s free money.
The woman said if these people that are being ferried in buses and lorries to State House were given tangible government programmes to be doing in their respective areas, they could not be turned beggars begging the K50,000s from President Chakwera.
“Malawians are in slavery under the leadership of President Chakwera and the MCP, giving out k50,000s to individuals to vote for him is not development,” she said.
Giving his reaction, a voice of the voiceless citizen of Malawi Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has accused President Chakwera of dishing out K50,000s to people saying it would have been better to take this money to ADMARC to procure maize as development.
Kamphangala has faulted all those who told President Chakwera that he will be voted back into office through dishing out the K50,000s wrong, observing that this is happening at the time that government hospitals are running without stocks of essential drugs.
He recalled that former President Dr. Bakili Muluzi used to pay for the bills in Peoples Trading Centres and this was not the time of campaign saying President Chakwera is the first to have open the State House gates for free K50,000s while millions of Malawians are sleeping with empty stomachs.
“I wish Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo was made one of his advisors, he would not have been making this nonsense at the State House, State House is the House of honor and that honor has now been swallowed with the K50,000s free for all money,” said Kamphangala.
