By Suleman Chitera – Mzimba
Paramount Chief M’mbelwa has commended President Lazarus Chakwera for constructing the M’mbelwa Stadium in Mzimba, where a major political gathering was held over the weekend.
Speaking during the event, the traditional leader said the stadium is a significant development that will benefit the people of Mzimba and enhance sports and cultural activities in the district.
However, M’mbelwa used the platform to condemn the growing trend of insult-driven politics, urging political players to focus on meaningful debate and issue-based campaigns.

“Let us discuss issues, not talk about how a person looks,” said M’mbelwa, warning that politics of character assassination are not welcome in the district.
The chief further encouraged citizens to actively participate in the upcoming elections by voting on September 16, stressing that choosing a leader is a fundamental democratic right.
“Go and vote — it is your right to decide who should lead you,” he said.
The gathering attracted various political leaders, community members, and civil society representatives, all keen to hear M’mbelwa’s rare but powerful message on development and peaceful political engagement.
