A voice of the voiceless citizen of Malawi Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, says the news that the Registrar of Political Parties has ordered President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) to stop giving outs handouts to the electorate, has brought shame to the MCP family.
Kamphangala said what the Registrar has spoken bears nothing but the truth that the country does not respect its laws and had it been that the opposition were the ones distributing handouts, all would have been arrested and thrown into jail.
He said the warning to President Chakwera and the MCP has come very late after the MCP has spent billions of Kwachas handouts giving it to various groups of people that have been going to the state house to dine with President Chakwera.
The Registrar of Political Parties said the MCP and President Chakwera had 5 good years of building relations with the people by listening to their cries, but has failed, its mistakes cannot be corrected through giving the voters handouts.
Kamphangala has accused the Registrar of political Parties for long been watching President Chakwera and the MCP dishing out K50,000s to the electorate to entice them vote for him in his quest to bounce back into government.
He said what the MCP has been doing dishing out money in front of cameras, is open defiance not only to the laws of the country but millions of Malawians that are spending nights with empty stomachs and have no hope for a better tomorrow in President Chakwera’s leadership.
The citizen has claimed that billions of Kwachas the MCP has been distributing out as handouts, if it was channeled to hospitals to buy drugs and ADMARC depots to buy maize, Malawians could have been saved and thank President Chakwera.
He said the warning to President Chakwera and the MCP to stop giving out handouts has come following piles and piles of cases reported over the same and if Malawi had laws on handouts, President Chakwera and the MCP could have been disqualified from participating in the 16th September, 2025 elections.
Kamphangala said the MCP of President Chakwera has for 5 years been applying selective application of justice observing that what the Registrar has done, is another selection of justice which could not end up with a warning to President Chakwera and the MCP but action.
“Malawi has the laws on handouts on paper not on the ground, if the country had laws the K50,000s handouts would have been stopped in as soon as yesterday,” He said.
Kamphangala has finally expressed fears that if indeed with the support of handouts the MCP is distributing to the voters, and it happens that the MCP has bounced back into government, donors will not come on the knees of Malawi because the country has proved it all that it is not a poor country.
