Social commentator Dr. Samuel Lwara, has claimed that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is touring districts in the northern region of Malawi not campaigning for votes but bidding bye to the northerners for empty 2020 promises.
Lwara said if President Cakwera fulfilled what he promised the northerners, there was no need to campaign for votes, his works could have been speaking for him today but unfortunately, there is nothing to speak for him on the ground, people are only remembering him for lies.
He said in his heart, President Chakwera knows that he has failed to run the country but he cannot accept his mistakes and is keeping on promising unrealistic promises to the very same people that have proved him a liar.
Speaking through an audio clip, Lwara has reminded people of the north of Chakwera’s promises such as Orton Chirwa international Airport, Mombera University and the M1 Road to Karonga saying all these are failed projects by President Chakwera.
Lwara said this could have been the best time for President Chakwera to be touring districts apologizing to the citizens for failed promises resulting from not listening to the voices of reason and cries of the people.
He has assured President Chakwera that people pf the North are not fools to forget about his broken promises and giving him votes observing that Mzimba central has no Malawi Congress Party (aspirant MP) but an independent candidate, Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba.
The social commentator said President Chakwera was touring Mzimba central campaigning for the MCP asking Malawians what picture is President Chakwera giving to the people in an area to be run by his running mate Mumba as an independent candidate.
He said President Chakwera has for 5 years of his office been breaking the Constitution and the rule of law saying this is why he has chosen Mumba to be his running mate taking over from the party’s vice President Catherine Gotani Hara.
“President Chakwera has been seen for 5 years breaking the constitution and today, he has broken the MCP Constitution where the running mate has become the party’s Vice President, this is a total breach of the constitution,” said Lwara.
He has reported to President Chakwera that all the people surrounding him from the north are his relatives and they felt very sorry for him on how he was evicted from a Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC) house at the Mzimba boma chased by armed police officers.
Lwara said if people of the north have a name in mind to be voted for, Dr. Dalitso Kabambe, Professor Mutharika and Dr. Joyce Banda and not the MCP and President Chakwera advising President Chakwera not to waste government resources that people of the north will be carried away to vote for him.
He has warned the MCP that if the leadership of the party continues to be like that of President Chakwera , even his children cannot be encouraged to join the MCP claiming that in the MCP, there is no unity and the unity which was there followed Kamuzu Banda to the grave.
