Lilongwe, Malawi — His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, President of the Republic of Malawi, has delegated Minister of Industrialization, Business, Trade and Tourism Dr. George Partridge and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. George Chaponda to represent Malawi at a crucial International Conference on Trade and Investment to be held in Doha, Qatar, from November 3 to 5, 2025.
The high-level conference is expected to bring together heads of state, ministers, investors, and global development partners to explore opportunities for sustainable trade, industrial growth, and investment partnerships across developing economies.

According to the Office of the President and Cabinet, Malawi’s participation reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and expanding export markets for locally manufactured goods.
“President Mutharika believes this conference provides Malawi with a unique platform to showcase its investment potential, especially in agriculture, tourism, mining, and manufacturing,” said a government spokesperson.
Dr. Partridge and Dr. Chaponda are expected to hold bilateral meetings with investors and policymakers from Asia, the Middle East, and Africa to discuss trade partnerships, industrial cooperation, and investment in value-added production sectors.

The conference comes at a time when Malawi is intensifying efforts to boost industrialization, create jobs, and grow export earnings under the government’s Blue Alliance for Prosperity Agenda.
Economic analysts have described the decision as strategic, noting that Doha offers a key platform for African economies to build trade ties with Gulf nations that are diversifying investments beyond oil.
The Malawian delegation will also take part in panel discussions focusing on sustainable trade policies, digital transformation in business, and investment opportunities in Africa’s emerging markets.
Malawi’s participation underscores the country’s readiness to partner with global investors and position itself as a competitive player in international trade and industry.
