Lilongwe – The Malawi Police Service has issued a stern warning to all lawbreakers: anyone attempting to undermine national security will face swift and uncompromising action.

The warning follows a dramatic foiled plot at Mbowe Fuel Station, where police uncovered a man planning to ambush an officer conducting an undercover operation at an ATM.

According to authorities, the suspect, armed with a knife, was shot in the leg during the intervention. He is now receiving medical treatment and will soon face justice in court.

“This is a clear message to all criminals: if you threaten public safety, you will be stopped,” said Alfred Chinthere, Deputy Police Spokesperson. “Our undercover operations and patrols are more robust than ever, and lawlessness will not be tolerated.”

The police have pledged to continue their intensified operations across the country to ensure that no criminal act jeopardizes the safety of Malawians.

Malawians are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as law enforcement takes a zero-tolerance approach to crime.
