The United States has launched fresh military strikes on Iran for the second time in three days, escalating tensions in the Middle East and raising fears that a fragile ceasefire between Washington and Tehran could collapse completely.
According to US Central Command (Centcom), American forces targeted a military site in Bandar Abbas, a strategic Iranian port city located along the Strait of Hormuz, after intelligence indicated the site was preparing to launch another drone attack.Only Forgiveness Can Move Malawi Forward: The Political Ordeal of Norman Chisale Under the MCP Administration
Centcom said US forces also intercepted and destroyed four Iranian one-way attack drones that were considered a direct threat to international security around the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes.
Iranian state-linked media confirmed explosions were heard east of Bandar Abbas shortly after the strikes.
US Says Strikes Were “Defensive”
The latest military action comes amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations and attempts to end the devastating three-month conflict that has disrupted global oil supplies and triggered sharp increases in energy prices worldwide.Trump Allegedly Leaves Chinese Gifts Behind Over Spy Fears: Rising US–China Tensions Exposed
Centcom described the strikes as “measured, purely defensive, and intended to maintain the ceasefire.”
Earlier this week, the US military acknowledged carrying out similar strikes in southern Iran targeting missile installations and Iranian vessels allegedly attempting to deploy naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
The US says the operations are aimed at protecting American troops and safeguarding international shipping lanes from Iranian threats.
Iran Condemns US Attacks
Iran has strongly condemned the renewed US strikes, calling them “a grave violation of the ceasefire.”
Tehran warned that it “will not leave any act of hostility unanswered,” raising concerns that the confrontation could spiral into a broader regional conflict.Western-Linked Container Ship Transits Strait of Hormuz as Traffic Shows Early Recovery
The growing instability has already begun affecting neighboring Gulf nations. On Thursday, Kuwait’s military announced that its air defense systems were actively intercepting what it described as “hostile missile and drone threats,” though officials provided few details.

The Strait of Hormuz remains at the center of the crisis, with thousands of commercial tanker ships reportedly stranded or rerouted due to security fears.
