A Giving Hand Foundation has launched a heartfelt appeal to well-wishers, philanthropists, corporate organisations, businesses and members of the public to support its Masjid Programme, which seeks to respond to growing requests from communities in need of safe and decent places of worship and essential community infrastructure.
The foundation says its office continues to receive numerous requests from communities across Malawi seeking assistance to construct new masjids and madrassa blocks, drill boreholes, and renovate or upgrade dilapidated masjids that are no longer in suitable condition.
The growing number of requests, according to the organisation, reflects the pressing needs faced by many communities, particularly those where residents lack adequate facilities for worship, Islamic education and access to safe water.
Through the Masjid Programme, A Giving Hand Foundation is calling on individuals and organisations with the capacity to help to come forward and become part of a meaningful initiative aimed at restoring dignity, strengthening communities and creating lasting facilities that can benefit generations.
A call to those who can make a difference
For many communities, a masjid is much more than a place of prayer. It can serve as a centre for religious education, community meetings, youth development, moral guidance and social support.
Similarly, a madrassa provides children and young people with an opportunity to learn about their faith in an appropriate environment, while access to a borehole can transform daily life by providing communities with a reliable source of clean and safe water.
However, some communities continue to worship in structures that require urgent renovation, while others are appealing for completely new facilities.
A Giving Hand Foundation believes that these challenges can be addressed when individuals, communities, businesses and development-minded organisations join hands.
An opportunity to leave a lasting legacy
The foundation is therefore encouraging philanthropists and well-wishers to consider supporting specific projects according to their capacity.
Support towards the construction of a masjid, madrassa block or borehole, or the renovation of an existing facility, can create a lasting legacy that continues to serve people long after the initial contribution has been made.
Corporate organisations can also participate through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes by partnering with the foundation to support communities in need.
The appeal comes at a time when community-led development requires strong partnerships between citizens, organisations, businesses and people of goodwill.
A Giving Hand Foundation says every contribution can help bring a community closer to having a dignified place of worship, a learning facility or access to clean water.
Turning requests into reality
The foundation’s appeal is not simply about constructing buildings. It is about responding to real needs coming from communities and helping turn those requests into sustainable projects.
With communities already approaching the organisation for assistance, the foundation is now seeking partners who can help translate these appeals into tangible development.
One masjid can become a centre of hope. One madrassa can shape the future of children. One borehole can bring clean water to an entire community. One renovation can restore dignity to a place of worship.
A Giving Hand Foundation is therefore urging people of goodwill not to wait for someone else to act.
Those interested in supporting the Masjid Programme, sponsoring a project or partnering with the foundation are encouraged to make contact with its leadership.
