The power transmission line from Mozambique to Malawi could enter commercial operation later this month. Testing began two weeks ago and is expected to continue for another week or slightly longer if any anomalies are detected.
Commercial operation is the final stage, when the infrastructure begins transmitting electricity regularly and permanently to the power system and supplying consumers after the completion of testing, commissioning and technical validation.
The information was provided to Notícias by the chairman of the Board of Directors of Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), Joaquim Henriques Ou-Chim, on the sidelines of a recent meeting that brought together key players in the country’s energy and hydrocarbons sectors.
“The line has already been energised and is now undergoing testing, and we expect commercial operation to begin this month. But technically, it is still in the testing phase to verify that it is functioning properly,” he said
