A motorist identified as Clifford Henry Phomba is facing charges of malicious damage and acts to cause bodily harm for injuring four police officers in Blantyre.

Phomba reportedly hit the four traffic cops who were on duty, with a speed trap camera near Bestobel on the Chipembere Highway in Blantyre, some hours ago.

It is said the incident happened after a misunderstanding between the motorist and the cops on the fine he was supposed to pay for speeding.

He then started off his car with speed and hit the security officers who were later rushed to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital for treatment.

Spokesperson for the South West Police Division Ramsey Mushani has told Capital FM that the accused will appear in court soon to answer the charges.
