Activist Salutes Zambia Police Professionalism

By Suleman Chitera Aug25,2022

Development Activist Chanda Mulenga has congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema and Inspector General of Police Lemmy Kajoba for running a professional police service.

Mr. Mulenga, a Former UPND National Youth Chairman for Mobilisation, said citizens’ perception of the police has improved tremendously under Mr. Kajoba.

He said crime levels were reducing systematically at a faster rate because of Mr. Kajoba’s leadership style.

The Development Activist noted that torture cases reported in the past were no longer rampant under the New Dawn Government.

He added that citizens that qualified for Police Bond were urgently allowed to be freed in line with President Hichilema’s desire for enhanced freedom.

Mr. Mulenga was confident that the situation would improve further especially that the New Dawn Government had committed to reviewing the Public Order Act (POA).

He said it was necessary that the Head of State was even elected as incoming Deputy Chairperson of the SADC organ on Politics, Defence and Security at the just ended 42nd Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State.

Mr. Mulenga observed that the removal of traffic officers from unnecessary snap check points had lessened the burden of the traveling public.
