Bakili Muluzi To Receive Award From NPC

The National Planning Commission is set to award Former President Bakili Muluzi for among other things, leading the setting-up of governance institutions like the Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB), the office of the Ombudsman and Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC), among others.

Director General of the Commission Thomas Munthali says the Inter-generational Development Champion award is also in recognition of the former president’s initiation of Vision 2020, on which the Malawi 2063 (MW2063) agenda is built.

Muluzi is also credited for introducing inclusive socio-economic empowerment initiatives such as free primary school education.

The commission says the award will be handed to Muluzi soon.
