Blantyre Police Apprehend Six Suspects Armed Robbers

It has been established that the six suspected armed robbers arrested after a shootout with police officers in Blantyre earlier today, were behind a fake roadblock at Bvumbwe in Thyolo and a series of armed robberies in Blantyre.

Business came to a halt around Chichiri Shopping Centre after police foiled an armed robbery the six planned at My Bucks Bank, following the incident.

Sergeant Aubrey Singanyama, Deputy Police Spokesperson for Blantyre Police says the suspects are also on the wanted list in connection with several armed robberies in the city.

The six, used a hired vehicle, Honda Freed.

However, Police have expressed worry that some members of the public rushed to the scene as the police exchanged fire with the suspected robbers.

Meanwhile, the six are receiving treatment at a hospital in Blantyre.
