Chakwera Assents To Bills

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera in the exercise of the powers conferred upon him by Section 89 of the Constitution of Malawi, has assented to six bills of Parliament recently passed and presented to him by the Legislature:

The bills were passed by Parliament in the last meeting of the 49th session.

The six bills include the Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government Elections 2022 which outlines the process on how a second poll should be conducted in a presidential election where no candidate manages to realise a majority of more than 50 percent in the first poll.

The other bills include Fertilizer bill of 2022, Roads Authority bill of 2022, Electoral Commission bill of 2022, Protected Flag, Emblems and Names (Amendment) bill of 2022 and Penal Code (Amendment) bill of 2022.
