Chilima Recognised For Championing Mindset Change

Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima has called on Malawians to assist in defining the path to realising the country’s aspirations as outlined in Malawi 2063.

Dr Chilima was speaking in Lilongwe after receiving an overall award of the Malawi 2063 Mindset Change Champion Certificate from the National Planning Commission (NPC).

The award was given to the Vice President as a way of recognising him for his efforts in changing the mindset of Malawians on the journey towards a self-sustaining nation.

Speaking after receiving the certificate, Dr Chilima said he dedicated it to all Malawians as they have a critical role in making sure that the country achieves its aspirations.

He then urged Malawians to work collectively towards achieving the dream regardless of the many challenges the country is facing.

Dr Chilima said there is a great need to instil a sense of hope in all Malawians. He also hailed the NPC for recognising the State President Dr Lazarus Chakwera on his efforts to realise the Malawi 2063. Dr Chilima then urged the commission to domesticate the messages of Malawi 2063.

NPC Board Chairperson, Professor Richard Mkandawire said they have decided to recognise the Vice President, because of his courage to assist in bringing mindset change among all Malawians. Mkandawire also urged the Vice President to continue his efforts of propelling Malawi 2063.

The NPC has already recognised President Dr Lazarus Chakwera as Champion of Malawi 2063 while former President Dr Joyce Banda has been named Champion of Promoting Peace and Security in SADC countries.
