Divisions continue to manifest in the Democratic Progressive Party

Divisions continue to manifest in the Democratic Progressive Party as two factions have organized two different rallies at one venue in Lilongwe to be held in two days but the party’s organizing secretary says party leadership is only recognizing one rally.

According to Chimwemwe Chipungu, his office which organizes the rallies is only aware of the one to be led by vice president for central region Zelia Chakale this Saturday and is not aware of the one organized by secretary general Grezelder Jeffrey whose guest of honour is the party’s vice president for the south Kondwani Nankhumwa next day.

Meanwhile political analyst Joseph Chunga says unless factions remain to exist in the party, efforts to rebuild it will not bear desired results. He has also suggested the party should go for an early convention.
