Government Deploys CIDs In All Evacuation Camps

Government has deployed Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers of the Malawi Police Service in all camps where Cyclone Freddy survivors are seeking shelter.

Minister of Homeland Security Ken Zikhale Ng’oma made the remarks following reports that some ill-minded people in Blantyre who are in police custody, stole some relief items meant for the Cyclone Freddy survivors.

Zikhale Ng’oma has since directed that any movement of the relief items should be escorted by police officers.

He has also advised all people living in the camps to report any suspicious
