Govt Start Deducting Money From Fargo Construction

Government through the Roads Authority has started deducting money from Fargo construction company Limited which is manning construction of three box culverts along Lwazi river at Enukweni in Mzimba for missing set deadlines.

The 2 billion Kwacha project which started in October last year was expected to be complete by February but has had two extensions with the recent one being 14th May.

Roads Authority spokesperson, Portia Kajanga has confirmed to Zodiak ,the project is now proceeding on deduction of liquidated damages of 0.01 percent of the total cost per day until when it finishes in August this year.

According to Kajanga the deductions are a punitive measure well stipulated in the contract agreement and meant to force the contractor to work with speed.

The Enukweni bridge was washed away in January last year due to heavy rains.
