Malawi Has No Leader But President-APM

Former President and DPP leadert Peter Mutharika says Malawi has a president but without a leader.

He maintains going for a referendum is the only way of resolving the country’s leadership which he claims is in shambles as evidenced by the high cost of living and general deep economic challenges..

He said this at the party’s end of year mega political rally at St Augustine 3 Primary School in Mangochi yesterday; describing the Tonse administration as a failed Government.

Leader of Opposition and DPP’s Vice President for the South, Kondwani Nankhumwa, widely viewed as running parallel structures in the party also attended the rally including almost all presidential aspirants.

Mutharika called for unity among party members for the good and prosperity of the party.

“Having different views on the party policy is healthy in a multpary dispensation but we must always united for the betterment of the party,” said Mutharika.

This was Mutharika’s second rally after his party was booted out Government in 2020 but has held several media briefings attacking Chakwera’s style of leadership.

But the Chakwera administration has always insisted that the DPP has no moral ground to speak of good leadership; arguing it left the country in a mess whose broken systems the current regime is fixing.
