Peter Mukhito, Secretary General of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), has categorically denied rumors that he endorsed the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ahead of the 2025 General Elections.
Social media was abuzz with claims that Mukhito made the endorsement during a DPP mega rally in Mzuzu on Saturday, dismissing the reports as baseless, misleading, and mere propaganda.
In an interview, Mukhito urged the public to disregard these false reports, emphasizing that they are the work of propagandists seeking to tarnish his image and create confusion.
“I reaffirm my commitment to the DPP, encouraging Malawians to rally behind the party’s leader and presidential candidate, Professor Peter Mutharika, who is the only one capable of rescuing the nation from the current socio-economic challenges.
Mukhito’s denial comes at a critical time, as the country prepares for the 2025 elections.
The DPP is among the major contenders, and any perceived shift in allegiance can significantly impact the electoral landscape. With this clarification, Mukhito aims to reassure DPP supporters and maintain party unity ahead of the polls.
