Malawi, a landlocked country on the vast African continent, has a beautiful & natural ecologic environment and a tranquil and indifferent humanistic environment. A journey through some of Her remote areas makes most Chinese feel strange. But with the spring breeze of “one Belt and one Road”, the country is bursting with her potentiality. Malawi began to take solid steps on the road to prosperity.

The “One Belt, One Road” is an initiative by the China-Malawi Friendship Association whose aim is to help both countries opening up for business opportunities with Malawi forming part of the development belt in Africa with one road that makes it easy for various exchanges of mutual benefit between the two countries.

So, who brought the Spring breeze of “one Belt and one Road?” The older generation of the Chinese living in Malawi. Today’s development and changes in most parts of Malawi are the fruits of the friendly relations between the Chinese and African people. It is also the result of the hard work of the older generation and the new generation of Chinese living in Malawi.

It’s been a pretty smooth ride. The overseas Chinese and the Chinese community take Malawian people like a family. They help each other, build a better future. During this period, many Chinese people emerged and helped to change the face of Malawi and its people.

The China-Malawi Friendship Association
Jiang Qingxi, a native of Sanming, Fujian, China, has been in Malawi for 22 years. He is a veteran of the Chinese overseas and Chinese community in Malawi. It can be said that he and a few other overseas Chinese leaders built a bridge between China and Malawi. Currently there are only about 3,000 Chinese overseas Chinese in Malawi, that are promoting friendly exchanges between China and Malawi.

Over the years, he has been enthusiastic about public welfare, founded the Malawi branch of the World Chinese Friendship Association and the African Malawi Peaceful Reunification Promotion Association, and actively carried out work, making outstanding contributions to the promotion of Sino-Malaysian exchanges.
