Sri Lanka Way, Concerned Citizens Threatens To March To State House

By Suleman Chitera Aug2,2022

Concerned citizens have threatened to march to state house should President Lazarus Chakwera fail to address their grievances in five days.

Speaking when presenting a petition to the office of the Blantyre District Commissioner, Steve Chimwaza, who led the demonstrations in the commercial city said they want Chakwera to resign or call for a referendum.

They are accusing his administration for poor governance and citing high cost of living among others.

Receiving the petition, Director of Administration at Blantyre District Council Hastings Dowe said he will submit the petition to relevant authorities.

Dowe, then, commended protesters for holding peaceful demonstrations.

Chakwera’s administration has witnessed a series of demonstrations since it was ushered into power.
