By Kondwani Kandiado

St Cecilia Women Choir( popularly known as choir 3) of St Mathias Catholic parish-Lumbadzi in the Archidiocese of Lilongwe says it is set to launch its long awaited debut album, Timatamande Mulungu on Sunday November 6, 2022.

According to the group’s Chairperson Luwiza Botha, the 10-track CD will be launched at the church’s hall from 1 pm and has songs like Chauta ngwachifundo, Kwa Yesu kwa Yesu, Titamande Mulungu, Katibadwira kamwana, Ine ndimwe pakuchimwa, ndikubwera kuti ndidzipereke among others.

Botha says they feel delighted to see their dream of launching their CD coming to fruition.

She said: “We greatly thank God for doing something great in our lives. We have gone through many challenges but we have overcome them all because God’s grace.”

She said they had decided to launch the CD to help spread God’s message even in hard-to-reach areas so that many people can turn to God.

The group’s treasurer, Gladys Kainja says they anticipate that the proceeds realised from the launch will help us buy music equipment and choir uniforms,” she said.

Kainja then asked wellwishers to patronise the launch to help them realise their dreams.

Some of the songs in the CD have already started enjoying airplay on some local radio stations.

The guest choir to the launch is St Francis Bakita and other choirs
from the surrounding communities.

Speaking in separate interview, master of ceremonies and chaplain for choirs in the Archidiocese of Lilongwe, Fr. Augustine Kaliu has heaped praises for the women choir for launching their debut album.

He says it is important for women and every christian to actively participate in preaching the word of God through music.

Kaliu has since urged all parishioners and well-wishers to support the choir financially and materially to fulfil their dreams.
