Junior Certificate of Education examinations have started on a good note this morning.
A total of 159 thousand 946 candidates are sitting for the examinations up from 135 thousand 619 students last year, representing a 17.9 percent increase.
Minister of Education, Agnes Nyalonje, told the media that she has received reports that all schools received examination materials on time. She said this after inspecting the commencement of exams at Kamuzu Palace CDSS in the capital, Lilongwe.
Nyalonje however expressed dismay after observing that some students are writing examinations on chairs instead of desks and she has since ordered authorities to ensure all students have desks this afternoon.
