Police in Nsanje District have arrested a 29-year-old man, Seka Mkupira, on suspicion of stealing three cows. According to Nsanje police spokesperson Agnes Zalakoma, the incident took place during the night of June 19 to the early hours of June 20, 2024. Mkupira is also suspected of stealing 22 goats in September this year.

Zalakoma explained that after an intensive investigation, police officers apprehended Mkupira on September 26-27, 2024, in Chilanga village. The investigation revealed that the goats were stolen from Mozambique, and Mkupira had been evading arrest for some time.

“Three charges will be brought against Mkupira,” Zalakoma stated, adding that the stolen goats are currently being kept in a veterinary facility.

Zalakoma further mentioned that Mkupira is expected to appear in court soon to answer the charges. He hails from Chilanga village under Traditional Authority Ndamera in Nsanje district.
