Phalombe Police Arrest Five Women for Alleged Theft

Police in Phalombe have apprehended five women for allegedly stealing K140,000 and three bags of fertilizer from a businessman.

According to Police Public Relations Officer Jimmy Kapanja, the suspects are Esnart Kaunda, 23, Bernadette Vizent, 30, Memory Enock, 25 all from Blantyre and Mary John, 24 from Chiradzulu.

He said the women allegedly committed the crime on November 18th, posing as buyers of fertilizer at a market in Phalombe.

“Following a tip-off, police arrested one of the suspects, leading to the discovery of the stolen items,” he said.

Police are working to apprehend other accomplices involved in the organized theft.
