President and Commander in Chief of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) Bantu Saunders Jumah, says the ball is in the hands of Malawians to choose a common person to liberate the country from the shackles of corruption and dictatorship.
Jumah has asked Malawians not to think of today, but the future of the country warning Malawians that without voting for a common person, the future will be 5 years of the same cabinet rotation, the country will be in a mess with hunger, no fuel and food insecurity.
He said life is what one makes saying God will not throw a better year if one cannot stand up and make a better year, advising Malawians that choosing a revolutionary leader is the only way to liberate the country from corruption and dictatorship.
Speaking through a Revolutionary voice, Jumah said cabinet reshuffle is the yardstick to show the world that the individuals appointed can deliver or not, but the concern of most Malawians is that what President Chakwera has done is not cabinet reshuffle but cabinet rotation.
Jumah said the 31-member cabinet appointed by President Chakwera is based on appeasement and patronage saying this has come at a time that life is very tough to most Malawians as the economy has collapsed this is evidenced by skyrocketing prices of essential goods.
He has reminded Malawians that in 2020 President Chakwera appointed a bloated cabinet of 31 members saying for 3 years, he has maintained the same cabinet beside failing in security matters, no unity, and health systems.
The MRP President said the cabinet failed to produce passports and driving licenses, Affordable Input Programme (AIP) has not been honored for 4 years after spending billions of Kwachas thrown into butcheries and pharmacies and no one has been apprehended by police.
He said President Chakwera is presiding over a cabinet that has intensified corruption saying this has resulted into failure to procure fuel and this has contributed to motorists spending nights at fuel service stations.
Jumah said a new cabinet could have brought in new faces describing the cabinet rotation President Chakwera announced to the nation on the 1st January, 2025 as an insult to the nation demanding Malawians to look around for someone in the villages who will respect the voters.
“These ministers were supposed to be axed, Dr. Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma, Sam Kawale, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, Richard Chimwendo Banda, Vera Kantukule, Moses Kunkuyu, Nancy Tembo, Jacob Hara, and Simplex Chithyola Banda.
He said President Chakwera was supposed to resign for failing to oversee the weakness of his ministers or trimming the cabinet to between 10 and 15 ministers to fix the country’s broken economy expressing his sadness over Vice President Dr. Michael Usi who has taken over the job of DoDMA as he is being seen carrying a bag of maize on his head.
Jumah said the country need to change its laws for the President not to be feared by the citizens but the President has to fear the citizens saying until such a time that the presidential powers have been reduced, Malawi shall be a better country for all.
