A politically charged commentary by Billy Malata has called for what he describes as fair recognition and respect for long-serving political operatives and civil society actors linked to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), while also questioning recent shifts in loyalty and internal conduct among key figures.

In the statement, Malata directly addresses Luther Mambala, urging him to show respect to colleagues after reportedly securing a position in government or related structures. The commentary argues that several individuals who contributed significantly to party mobilisation and internal operations have not been rewarded with formal appointments.

Among those mentioned are Frank Chiwanda, Dr. Paul Gadama, Dr. Collins Magalasi, Shumba, Kachenje, and Kambanje, who are described as having played notable roles in supporting party activities but remaining without official positions.

Malata highlights Frank Chiwanda as a politically sensitive figure, alleging that he was involved in escorting Hon. Chimwendo to police custody in a past incident that led to imprisonment. The statement further claims that Chiwanda may now face security risks as a result of his involvement in such operations

Dr. Paul Gadama is presented as a key contributor to party fundraising and internal conflict resolution efforts, particularly through disciplinary structures intended to stabilise internal disputes. Despite this, the commentary states that he has not been formally recognised.

Dr. Collins Magalasi is also cited for his alleged role in nationwide consultative work that contributed to the development of the party’s manifesto. According to the statement, he has not been rewarded with any employment or appointment despite his involvement.

The commentary further criticises Luther Mambala, accusing him of previously organising press conferences and fundraising activities against the DPP but now holding a position and remaining silent on issues affecting former colleagues. It questions why he has not intervened to advocate for their recognition.

Malata also raises concerns about alleged financial arrangements within civil society and political engagements, claiming that individuals involved in such work receive only a small portion of funds compared to what is collected. These claims remain unverified.

The statement draws comparisons with earlier political collaborators such as Mavuto Bamusi and Mai Kwataine, suggesting that previous administrations or partnerships were more inclusive in rewarding contributors.

It further warns that failure to address grievances among long-serving activists may lead to internal divisions and weaken organisational cohesion within political and civil society networks aligned to the DPP.

The commentary concludes by listing additional figures, including Shumba, Bakili Muluzi TV, Ntanyiwa, Jones Gadama, Vincent Gunde, and Suleman Chitera, urging that their contributions should not be overlooked amid ongoing political realignments.

None of the individuals mentioned have publicly responded to the claims.
