Vice President Dr. Michael Usi is scheduled to leave for Maputo, Mozambique, this morning to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President-Elect Daniel Chapo.

A statement from the Vice President’s Office confirmed that Dr. Usi will depart from Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe at 10:30 AM. The event in Maputo is expected to attract various regional and international leaders, underscoring the importance of the occasion in fostering regional ties and solidarity.

President-Elect Chapo’s inauguration marks a significant moment in Mozambique’s political landscape, and Dr. Usi’s attendance highlights Malawi’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations with its neighbor.

According to the statement, Dr. Usi is expected to return to Malawi on Thursday afternoon. He will arrive at Chileka International Airport in Blantyre at 2:25 PM.

The Vice President’s trip to Mozambique aligns with Malawi’s foreign policy agenda, which prioritizes regional cooperation and mutual development within the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
