President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has urged the newly sworn-in ministers to discharge their duties with integrity and passion for the betterment of the country.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony at Kamuzu Palace, President Chakwera emphasised the need for the ministers to work diligently in the interests of Malawians.
He expressed confidence that the newly appointed ministers would deliver results.
Furthermore, he reminded them that their appointments come with the responsibility to remain accountable to the people of Malawi.
The President also urged the ministers to recognise that they serve not only the entire nation but also the youth, emphasising the importance of representing young people in decision-making.
“I have been engaging with the youth in the country for the past years because it is important to hear their thoughts and include them in various projects. I also find it crucial to appoint young people to my cabinet,” he said.
He highlighted the need to involve young people in different sectors such as agriculture, tourism, education, and health, as they play a vital role in the country’s development.
In his remarks, the newly appointed Minister of Labour, Peter Dimba, assured Malawians of his commitment to his position, pledging to serve the country with integrity and dedication.
“I know there are many challenges in my ministry, including youth unemployment and unfair treatment in various companies and offices. I will make sure to address these issues,” said Dimba.
The newly appointed ministers who took the oath of office include Minister of Labour, Peter Dimba, and Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works, Baba Steven Malondera.
