Adil James Chilungo, who is vying to become Malawi’s next president as an independent candidate in the September 16 elections, has declared that he will not enter into alliances with any political party in a bid to secure the 50+1 vote threshold.

In his remarks, Chilungo said his goal in seeking the presidency is to uplift the country in collaboration with ordinary Malawians, emphasizing that national development cannot be achieved by one person alone, but through the active involvement of citizens who are already feeling the pain of underdevelopment.

“What I want is to lead by doing, not just by talking. People need to see wisdom in action, not just words,” he said.

One of his key policy areas is promoting the use of organic fertilizer. Chilungo revealed that he has already begun training farmers across different communities on how to produce and use organic manure.

Another flagship idea he presented is the establishment of interest-free loan banks. He disclosed that he is currently studying similar initiatives in countries like Nigeria, with the intention of replicating the model in Malawi.

Chilungo’s campaign underscores a grassroots-driven approach focused on innovation, self-reliance, and empowering Malawians to take an active role in transforming their own future.
