The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is gearing up for a major political rally in Blantyre this weekend.
The highly anticipated event will take place on Sunday, 20th July 2025, as the party intensifies its campaign ahead of the crucial September polls.
According to official announcements, the rally will be held at Ferries Ground in BCA, a venue known for hosting some of Malawi’s most significant political gatherings.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM, and party supporters from across the Southern Region are expected to attend in large numbers.
Among the notable figures expected at the rally is Hon. Joseph Mwanamvekha, who serves as the party’s vice president for the Southern Region. His presence underscores the importance of the event as DPP seeks to solidify its position and reaffirm its vision for the country’s development.
The organizing team for this mega rally will be spearheaded by Hon. Sameer Suleman, a prominent legislator and the party’s chief strategist in charge of event coordination.
Entertainment will also be part of the day’s agenda, with performances lined up from popular local artists including Gibho Pearson, DJ Moda, James Chimoto, Pastor Favour, and Grey Daud. This is expected to create an electrifying atmosphere and attract more attendees.
In addition, the rally will be broadcast live on the official DPP Facebook page, ensuring that supporters who cannot physically attend can still follow proceedings in real time.
Party officials have urged all members and supporters to turn up in large numbers and listen to the party’s vision for restoring Malawi to a path of meaningful development and good governance.
The DPP leadership emphasized that the rally is not just about entertainment but also about sharing “the real issues of visionary leadership and national progress” as the party positions itself for a comeback.
The slogan “16 September – Kubwelera ku Utsogoleri wa Masomphenya” (Returning to Visionary Leadership) continues to dominate DPP’s messaging, signaling the party’s determination to reclaim power in the upcoming general elections.
The rally forms part of the party’s broader strategy to mobilize support and rally voters under the banner of #VoteraniProfArthurPeterMutharika, #VoteraniSameerSuleman, and #Chitukukochioneke (Visible Development).
With the countdown to the elections firmly underway, all eyes will be on how DPP’s message resonates with the electorate during this mega rally in Blantyre.
