Nkhotakota — Founder of the I Support Positive Youth Foundation (ISPYF), Allington Gumption Cregue, has called on both local and international investors to step up support for youth football development in Malawi.

Cregue, a native of the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean, made the appeal after hosting a two-day football tournament in Senior Chief Kalimanjira’s area in Nkhotakota. As part of the event, he donated football jerseys, balls, and solar-powered lights to City Stars FC to facilitate night training sessions.

“Football has the power to transform young lives,” said Cregue. “We need more investment to build strong teams and nurture future national players.”

His initiative earned praise from Nkhotakota District Council Sports Officer, Blessings Marley, who described Cregue’s contribution as a “game changer” for youth sports in the district.

“We urge more partners to join us in identifying talent and establishing football academies that will prepare players for professional careers and national representation,” Marley said.

Local football volunteer Gabriel Teleka also hailed the project, saying it brings hope for grassroots football and demonstrates the potential of youth programs when backed by committed partners.

Cregue’s passion for youth empowerment through sports is now sparking calls for a united effort in promoting football development across Malawi.
