Social media contributor Leonard Chimbanga, has written a food for thought on his face book page backing Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika for unveiling his Running mate, Justice Jane Ansah basing on trust that she will deliver.
Chimbanga has reminded Malawians that History is the best teacher saying what Professor Mutharika has done, happened with the late Professor Bingu wa Mutharika that they both picked one from outside the party as a Running mate.
He said ever since the two picked their Running mates, Malawians across the country expressed their concerns questioning why their leaders have decided to settle for someone outside the party as Running mates leaving the owners of the party, speechless.
Writing on his face book page, Chimbanga has reminded Malawians that when Bingu wa Mutharika picked madam Dr. Joyce Banda as his running mate in 2009, there were noise all over town, and in 2014 when Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika unveiled the late Dr. Saulosi Klaus Chilima, people had many questions than answers.
Chimbanga said in 2019 Professor Mutharika surprised many when he picked Mr. Everton Chimulirenji from nowhere to be his Running mate observing that the same has happened with the choice of a woman of great integrity, a Supreme Court of Appeal Judge, Justice Dr. Justice Jane Ansah.
He has appealed to DPP members, supporters, and Malawians praying for change of leadership in the country to wait and see advising them to meet at the ballot on the 16th September, 2025 elections to see what God has planned for Malawians that are crying for their country.
Speaking to the media after presenting his nomination papers to Mec Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja in Lilongwe on Friday, Professor Mutharika said this country has been destroyed and it demand technocrats to rebuild it and not just for appeasement.
Professor Mutharika has claimed that Malawians have suffered and are continuing suffering in the country for they don’t have a hope for a better tomorrow saying Malawians need a government that cares about people to govern them.
She praised Justice Dr. Jane Ansah that she is a woman of her legal track record in public service expressing confidence that DPP members and supporters and the entire country will give her support to do well in government.
One of DPP Governor for Lilongwe speaking on a strict condition of anonymity, has asked DPP members and supporters to forget about the Running mate issue and focus on rebuilding the country after the 16th September, 2025 elections.
The Governor said debating and debating on the choice of Professor Mutharika’s Running mate will take the party to nowhere advising Malawians that there is a court case ahead of them of the use of Smartmatic machine and Mec rejecting independent auditors from verifying the voters’ roll.
“Let’s not waste time debating on Professor Mutharika’s running mate, we have a big role to play to make sure that MCP and President Chakwera must not bounce back into government through vote rigging schemes, ”she said.
