Independent candidate Mahomed Hanif Osman has officially submitted his nomination papers to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), confirming his interest to contest in the Chiradzulu Masanjala Constituency in the upcoming elections.
Osman is among 13 aspiring Members of Parliament vying for the seat in the constituency. Former MP Issa, who represented Chiradzulu Central from 2014 to 2019 as an independent, lauded the nomination process, describing it as smooth and well-organized.
Constituency returning officer Alice Nyalugwe reported that, so far, nine out of the 13 parliamentary hopefuls and 11 of the 13 local government aspirants have successfully submitted their papers.
The Chiradzulu Masanjala race is shaping up to be a competitive contest as more candidates throw their hats into the ring, reflecting a vibrant and participatory democratic process.
