Blantyre, Malawi — PremierBet Malawi has injected K10 million into the Southern Zone Basketball League (Sozobal) for the upcoming GreenTop 3×3 Basketball Tournament, set for August 23, 2025, at the Blantyre Sports Arena.
PremierBet Malawi community manager Hamza Mgaye said the company is proud to extend its sports sponsorship to basketball, adding that the event will also be used to promote responsible betting awareness among the public.
“We believe in supporting diverse sports disciplines in Malawi. Basketball is growing, and this partnership will also help spread important messages about engaging in responsible betting,” said Mgaye.
Sozobal chairperson Raymond Chioko expressed gratitude to PremierBet Malawi for the sponsorship, saying it will significantly boost the promotion of 3×3 basketball — a shorter, fast-paced version of the sport gaining popularity worldwide.
The one-day tournament will feature 32 teams competing in five categories: men under-23, women under-23, senior men, senior women, and veterans.
Basketball Association of Malawi (Basmal) technical director Hope Chisamanga praised the timing of the sponsorship, noting that it aligns with efforts to develop basketball talent in Malawi.
The GreenTop 3×3 Basketball Tournament promises to deliver thrilling action while fostering community engagement and promoting positive sportsmanship across the country.
