Two concerned members of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) have told the party’s Campaign Director Hon. Moses Kumkuyu to accept the 16th September, 2025 general elections defeat to the DPP saying the elections were free and fair.
During an exclusive interview with Zodiak Television Station, Kunkuyu said the elections were rigged by the DPP meaning that he is not accepting the defeat and that the party is strategizing itself to bounce back into government in the 2030 elections.
The two MCP members have told Kumkuyu that if he has nothing to tell Malawians, he should say no to be interviewed by journalists saying Malawians of today are well enlightened people and they are not the same as they were in 1964.Why Lazarus Chakwera Failed as President of Malawi
The two have asked Kumkuyu that if indeed the DPP rigged the 16th September, 2025 elections why the MCP withdrew the case from the court after it lodged a complaint? Advising Kumkuyu not to mislead MCP members and supporters that the elections were not free and fair.
They said Kumkuyu should have been the first person to accept defeat and not the last to accept defeat not in good faith observing that greed have costed the MCP out of government, the party leaders did not want to listen to the voices of reason.Vitumbiko Mumba’s Independent Roots, MCP’s Painful Loss
The two MCP members said many Malawians casted doubt with Mec Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja that she will preside over the elections in a free and fair manner being MCP herself but in the end she has received praises even from MCP members and supporters themselves.
They said MCP lost the elections by its own wishes that they spent most of their campaign insulting and castigating Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika instead of selling and promoting their manifesto of giving out K500,000s to newly born babies.MCP pens Chakwera to call for an emergency Convention
The two said MCP officials were speaking as if all people in the central region of Malawi have food, forgetting that there was a small group in the region that have food while majority had no food and the MCP was expect the majority that did not have food to vote for it because they are coming from the region.
They said even President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera himself contributed to the party’s defeat in the elections judging from his words that he wanted farmers to prosper observing that Chakwera’s concentration was mainly on farmers to become rich and not those that are poor and have no food.
A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) member of Dowa has appealed to the DPP and Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika that by virtue of the people of Dowa, Kasungu and Mchinji voted overwhelmingly for Dr. Lazarus Chakwera this should not make Professor Mutharika to forget them.
“In the three districts, people vote for the MCP by force, the people are not totally free, they are in prison, they just follow their friends that they are MCP,” said the man.
The two MCP members have assured the party that they are here to praise the good things which President Professor Mutharika will be doing to the people of Malawi not just opposing for the sake of opposing being MCP members, saying this is what Malawi of today wants.
