A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Vice constituency Secretary for Lilongwe City speaking on a strict condition of anonymity, has predicted a painful 2026 to those who have stolen taxpayers’ money to vomit what they stole.
The MCP member said the release of 222 prisoners from a presidential pardon should not be taken for celebrations by MCP members but rather be pain because the spaces left by those that have been released will be taken by those that have eaten taxpayers’ money.
He said for the very first time since 2020 when President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera took office, President Professor Mutharika has pardoned many prisoners out of pressure that those who committed minor offenses are in prison while the big fishes are swimming outside prisons.
The MCP member said the country’s national debts have reached K28.5 trillion in 2025 from K4.1 trillion left by the DPP and Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika in June, 2020 speaking for itself that K24 trillion was borrowed by the MCP alone in their six years of power.
He said the DPP and Professor Mutharika with the K4.1 trillion implemented tangible projects which are visibly seen today such as Bingu National Stadium, BICC, MUST University in Thyolo and the state of the art hospital in Nkhatabay district.
The MCP member said with the K24 trillion borrowed by the MCP and President Chakwera, there is no visibly seen project implemented by them, nothing to show on the ground that they did this and that only History that some of the MCP ministers have been turned into billionaires over a night.
He said President Chakwera delivered a half- baked State of the Nations Address (SONA) in Parliament where he boasted the projects his MCP led government has implemented in his five years of power, where it was discovered that he delivered lies in Parliament.
The MCP member said President Chakwera went back to Parliament to withdraw his SONA speaking clearly that billions of Kwachas were stolen from completed projects on paper while on the ground, there is zero completion of projects.
“MCP senior members, ministers, MPs, contractors are at risk of being arrested for thieving in government with no political witch- hunting,” said the source.
He has advised the DPP led government not to spare anyone in the MCP who has stolen the peoples’ taxes to pay back what they stole in government or else serve imprisonment with hard labor saying Malawi more than ever need money to be recovered from thieves not their imprisonment.
The MCP member has finally advised the DPP led government to adopt Magufuli Amnesty to confiscate property of those who will fail to pay back what they stole in government by giving them the choice of either to pay back or to be imprisoned.
