NGO Appeals for Help to Rebuild Classroom Destroyed by Heavy Rains in Chikwawa

Chisa Children, Youth and Community Development Organization (CCYCDO) a Non-governmental organization working in different districts including Chikwawa has appealed to well-wishers to help renovate a classroom block destroyed by heavy rains in the district.

The appeal was made when volunteers and communities visited the class block which was being used by pupils and was severely damaged by heavy rains disrupting the learning process.

Speaking after assessing the damage, CCYCDO programs officer for the center, Samuel Ndelemani said the organization will work so hard to rebuild the class block but asked for assistance for this to be quick as schools are in progress.

Ndelemani said, well-wishers can help them with building materials, labor, or funds to support the renovation of the building to help the children get back to school.

“Our children are suffering without a proper learning environment and we are appealing to anyone who can help us rebuild this classroom so that our kids can continue with their education.” He said.

Group Village Headman Khwangwa whose school is in his area, said the school helps children from almost seven villages and this has left them destitute. The chief therefore appealed to all well-wishers to come together and help to renovating the block so that children may go back to school.

“This nursery school is helping more than one hundred children from villages of Luciano, Biyala, Mateyu and Khwangwa among others,” We have managed to construct a temporary shelter for our children to keep learning but we ask for assistance to rebuild the block and have a safer learning place for our children”. He said.

Chisa Children, Youths and Community Development Organization is providing free nursery education to village children where among other things provide porridge to children during school days. The organization is currently operating in Balaka, Chiradzulu and Chikwawa.
