Lilongwe, Malawi – Citizens are reporting noticeable improvements in Malawi’s economy and living standards under President Arthur Peter Mutharika, compared to the tenure of Lazarus Chakwera and the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
During Chakwera’s administration, many families faced food shortages, with staple commodities such as maize often difficult to access. Observers say this period left households vulnerable to hunger.
Under Mutharika, economic experts, including Joseph Mwanamveka, have introduced measures to ensure essential goods remain available, helping reduce hunger and improve household stability. Citizens describe these policies as effective management that supports livelihoods.
While some critics attempt to undermine the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government, analysts emphasize that the country is making real progress, with stronger collaboration between government and economic stakeholders. These efforts have enhanced food security and overall economic resilience, offering hope for a better future for Malawians.
