Muluzi has respectfully and sincerely clarified his remarks that they were never intended as an insult, attack, or expression of hostility toward Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
Writing on his Facebook page, Atupele Muluzi said he fully recognize and respect the democratic choice Malawians made on the 16th September, 2025 in electing Professor Mutharika President at the age of 85.
Atupele said the decision made by Malawians must always be respected saying his comments were made in the context of immense demands that the presidency places on any individual, especially during and period of serious economic hardship and national difficulty.
“The remarks were rooted in concern for governance, leadership transition and the need for every political movement to consciously prepare and empower the next generation of leaders,” reads Atupele Muluzi’s writings on the wall.

A concerned citizen of Malawi Mrs. Elizabeth Kaliza Banda of Area 51 in Lilongwe, said Atupele Muluzi remains to be a political hope for Malawi’s future politics.
Kaliza Banda said the only problem with Atupele Muluzi is that he partner with people and a political party that has lost trust in the eyes of Malawians after being promised leadership responsibilities advising him to change to the better, he can still win the trust Malawians have had in him as a future political leader of tomorrow.

She said by coming out openly to apologize to Mutharika for his remarks respectfully and sincerely, this is clearly showing that Atupele Muluzi as a human being is deeply touched in his heart that some people are still discussing the remarks he made as leader of UDF that Professor Mutharika must rest due to his old age.
The citizen has reminded all that it was not the wish of Professor Mutharika to stand in the September, 2025 elections but Malawian demands that he stands to liberate the country from the shackles of MCP dictatorship and quest to return the country to a one party state.
Kaliza Banda has advised Atupele Muluzi to hold a media conference to make his apology in public for a renewed commitment that he is the hope of Malawian youth to stand in the 2030 elections.
” Apologizing to Professor Mutharika through the Facebook page is not enough, hold a press conference to share the same message, Malawians will trust you,” she said.
Kaliza Banda has finally advised Muluzi to start offering solutions to government on how best to overcome challenges of fuel and forex shortages and building the country’s economy, saying in this way, Malawians will trust him that he has taken a good path assuring him that as on this day, millions of Malawians take Atupele Muluzi as an MCP agent and cannot be part of the solutions for the country’s problems as they were deliberately created by the MCP and President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for DPP and President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to be labeled failures in government.
