Sharjah Charity House has donated a fire engine to Blantyre City Council in a significant boost to the city’s fire emergency response services.

Speaking during the handover ceremony at the council offices, Sharjah Charity representative Zishan Yusuf Balwan said the organisation has also provided K5 million towards the maintenance of fire engines to ensure smooth operations.

Blantyre City Mayor Isaac Jomo Osman hailed the donation as a major step in strengthening the council’s firefighting capacity.

Osman said the donation has increased the number of functional fire engines at the council from three to four, improving the city’s ability to respond to fire emergencies.

He added that the council will continue engaging development partners and stakeholders to source additional fire engines and further improve emergency response services in Blantyre.
