According to a disciplinary notice dated May 21 and signed by MCP National Publicity Secretary Jessie Kabwila, Msonda is accused of making remarks during a recent media interview that the party considers inappropriate, disrespectful, and contrary to the values of the MCP.

The party says the comments reflected disloyalty and undermined the unity, vision, and collective direction of the movement at a time when the party is attempting to tighten internal discipline.
Msonda has been ordered to appear before the committee on May 25 at 10:00 AM at the MCP headquarters in Area 3, Lilongwe, where party officials are expected to scrutinize his conduct and determine possible disciplinary action in accordance with the party constitution.

The notice further warns that failure to attend the hearing could result in additional sanctions against the veteran politician.
In the strongly worded communication, Dr. Kabwila emphasized that the disciplinary process is aimed at protecting “the integrity of our great movement,” while stressing that loyalty, discipline, unity, and respect are non-negotiable within the MCP.
The development is likely to fuel fresh debate about internal democracy and tolerance of dissent within the ruling party, especially as political temperatures continue rising ahead of future elections.

Msonda, known for his blunt and often controversial political commentary, has in recent months attracted attention for publicly criticizing certain trends within the party, comments that have reportedly unsettled sections of the MCP leadership.
Political observers say the disciplinary action signals that the party leadership is increasingly determined to silence internal rebellion and enforce strict loyalty as succession battles and strategic positioning begin intensifying behind the scenes.

The case now places Msonda at the center of another high-profile political storm, with many expected to closely watch whether the disciplinary hearing results in suspension, reconciliation, or a deeper split within the party ranks.
