The DPP leadership continues to emphasise agricultural support, farm inputs and policies aimed at helping smallholder farmers increase production.

The ultimate objective is to strengthen household food security while creating opportunities for farmers to generate income from their agricultural activities.

Supporters of the government argue that Malawi cannot achieve sustainable development without transforming agriculture and ensuring that farmers have the resources and markets needed to succeed.

The cooperation between Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and senior officials such as Hon. Peter Mukhito is being presented by DPP supporters as evidence of a leadership team focused on national service.
