Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda has refused to pay Norman Chisale, former president Peter Mutharika’s body guard, K500 million for compensation in an attempted murder case which he was acquitted.
Nyirenda says state was not wrong to prosecute Chisale although he was acquitted, adding that he is ready for defense if Chisale proceeds to court with the matter.
Lawyer for Chisale, Chauncy Gondwe, says he is yet to receive a response from the attorney general for the case which his client is demanding the compensation for alleged false imprisonment, malicious prosecution and defamation.
