Balaka Police Train 120 Kabaza Operators In Balaka

The Directorate of Road Traffic and Safety Services in conjunction with Balaka Police Station have trained 120 kabaza (Motorcycle taxi) operators in a drive to curb road accidents.

Principle Road Traffic Officer responsible for road safety in the Eastern Region, Moses Chisanjo, says the process of orienting the Kabaza operators will help reduce road accidents taking place among the operators due to insufficient knowledge on how to use the roads properly.

Balaka Police Station Road Traffic-in-Charge, Luke Nakoma, says the trainings will help in curbing road accidents among motor cyclists and peddle cyclists in the district.

”As Balaka Police, we really commend DRTSS for the initiative and this will help us reduce the number of road accidents which have recently been rampant among the kabaza operators,” he said.

One of the participants, Jackson Kachere, says the training has come at the right time, adding that some of the roads accidents were indeed happening due to lack of knowledge.
