President Dr Lazarus Chakwera says that malawians should expect blackouts to end by December.
Chakwera says that, the country has secured 69 billion Kwacha for rehabilitation works of damaged Kapichira power Station. Kapichira was damaged by Cyclone Ana, its damage removed 128 Megawatts from the country’s power grid.
He has also directed Escom and Power Market Limited to immediately resolve their disagreements, which he says is motivated by self interests and greedy.
“Dziko lisamachedwe Chifukwa cha anthu ochepa odzikonda,” said the President in vernacular.
This was after Deputy British High Commissioner to Malawi David Pert asked government to come clear on single buyer system, for more investors in the energy and power sector to come into the country.
