The Malawi Electoral Commission Chief Elections Officer, Andrew Mpesi, has reportedly resigned from his position, but the reasons behind his sudden departure remain unclear.

Meanwhile, MEC spokesperson Sangwani Mwafulirwa said he was not aware of the resignation when approached for clarification.
